FAQS
DO YOU HAVE A QUESTION?
Doncaster Physie

How many lessons a week do I/does my child need

to attend?

Physie is no different to any other new skill - the more you do it the

quicker you learn. Two lessons are not compulsory but for the best

results we recommend two lessons per week.

What are the fees?

Please refer to the Class Fees page on our website. The fee is based on school terms, length of classes, and are regardless of whether the student attends one or two classes per week.  All students must also register with BJP, our governing body. BJP charge a once off annual fee that covers insurance, syllabus music rights, access to the practice video and entry to competitions each year.

We are a not for profit club, and rely on fundraising throughout the year with the help of our committee and volunteers! This keeps Term fees down for our members and makes dance accessible to as many Aussie families as we can. If you have any concern regarding costs, please reach out to your teacher or send us an email.

What class will I be in?

The age you turn on or before 31st August 2026. For example, if you are turning 9 years on 31 August 2026 you would be in the 9 year age group. However, if you turn 9 years old on 1 September 2026, you would be in the 8 year age group (because that was your age on 31 August 2026).

What to wear to class?

All students must wear a leotard or active wear to class. Please try to avoid wearing school uniforms to class. We will allow time for girls to get changed if necessary!

Any branded leotard is permitted to be worn to class. It is only if you choose to participate in competitions that a BJP branded leotard (2022 style onwards) or performance wear must be worn to competitions.

All students must bring a water bottle to class.

Hair must be tied up neatly and off the face.

No shoes are required as all Physie dances are done barefoot.

Can parents sit in on the class?

Parents of the Tiny Tots (3-5 years) class only, are permitted to sit at the back of the class and watch quietly, and we ask that parents monitor distractions from other siblings during the class.

If the teachers find the class to be too noisy and distracting when parents are sitting in the class, parents will be asked to sit in the foyer. This is in order to minimise class disruption as a noisy classroom disrupts the learning environment for the children.

Parent viewing sessions will be organised throughout the year to see how the girls have learned and progressed throughout the Term.

Are there classes on school holidays and public holidays?

There will be no classes held on public holidays.

Occasionally, classes are held on school holidays, although this will be communicated by the teacher of each age group as the year progresses.

What are the Class Rules?

Students must wait in the foyer prior to the commencement of their own class to avoid disruption to the class prior.

Students must be dropped off and left with a teacher or parent (for those under 18). They must not be dropped off outside the classroom without an adult present. Students are to be collected from the inside foyer at the end of their class and are not permitted to wait outside on their own for their parents.

Please try and ensure that girls go to the bathroom before their class.

Chewing gum is not allowed in class.

Mobile phones are not to be used during class time.
